Edinburgh Fringe 2024 Audience reviews

Fantastic ghost story which felt very M.R. James inspired to me.
Loved it and the use of light throughout.

James Boyd

An atmospheric and fascinating piece of theatre with a very effective lighting plot I.e. hand-held candle light lamps which really added to the tension of this ghostly tale. A strong cast create an engaging and absorbing hour of theatre. Well worth finding a slot for it in your hectic Fringe schedule!

Julian Agnew

A great, creepy and eerie ghost story performance that might keep you up at night. Highly recommended

Don Barak

Absolutely brilliant show! I love the way that this is lit by the lanterns alone, which (as a theatre tech myself) was a lovely, simple touch that really worked well. The acting was superb and the whole story draws you into a spooky and surreal world of another age. Shout out to the tech for great soundscapes. A really good show for those who enjoy the gothic horror vibe.

Steve Lincoln

A wonderful and moving take on the Victorian ghost story. The cast build up the mystery beautifully and the way they blend narrated storytelling and character voices is so well done. Despite playing into the gothic Victoriana of it all they did a great job of keeping the characters grounded and the performances are really compelling.

Julia Bainbridge

This play gripped us right from the start. In a genre different from much of the Fringe, this spooky period story is tightly written and presented and avoids cliches. The experience of the cast shows through and interplay between characters is perfectly timed. Very atmospheric. Highly recommended.

Seriously spooky! This was a really atmospheric production that kept me gripped. I genuinely didn’t see the end coming Excellent use of music and some rather natty lighting conspired with a nicely woven plot to deliver a proper ghost story!

Claire Walton

The sense of impending menace and mystery is very skilfully developed in this tale of personal loss, illicit relationships and fear. Tension built up slowly throughout the play to its grisly culmination.

Andy from Leith

Ghost Light was a suspenseful tale expertly crafted by the actors. They brilliantly used light and dark as one of the characters. Definitely make time in your schedule to see this.
